Site shaping up

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The website is starting to look like what I wanted it to be looking like.  I’ll be adding more things for the novel soon, right now I have a page started for the Tower of London and one for dragons.  I have a lot more planned for being added to the site as I get time to work on it, including information on the laws of my novel’s world, customs, clothing, recipes and other assorted things that just make the world of my novel seem more real.

It is closing in on one in the morning right now, so I think I better get some sleep and work more on this tomorrow.

Heir to Magic is in yWriter 4

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I’ve got the novel resorted and moved into yWriter 4 once again.  I’m really happy to have that back as my writing program of choice for this novel.  One thing that I am particularly jazzed about with yWriter 4 is that it now has the ability to insert pictures of the characters in the character description area.  That is something that me and my friend had been talking about a while back as being one of the few things that the program was lacking.  Very nice edit to a program that already is hands down better than any of the ones that charge hundreds of dollars.

My one complaint at the moment is that when I resorted my novel and  got everything pulled back together I have discovered I lost some of the novel.  About 3,000 words of it. ::wince:: That hurts, but I’m not discouraged.

398 words added to novel

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I’ve got another 398 words added to my novel.  It was not really that hard, hardest part was staying awake to write.  And no, it was not because it was boring, it was because I was sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for the doctor to see my dad.  My dad had an appointment to see his doctor yesterday and I went in with him, taking along my little laptop.  As I waited with him for his turn to see the doctor I worked on my novel.  It was around 8 p.m., so me and him were both feeling a little sleepy.  I did manage to get another nearly 400 words added to the novel though, so I am really happy about that.  And the scene I was working on is one that I can easily pick up and keep working on, so I am happy about that as well.  Looking forward to adding another 100 or so words to my novel this afternoon or evening.

Reclaiming my writing time

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

It seems like every time I get a few minutes to work on my novel, I fall asleep.  Last night a friend of mine was talking about how she was going to work on her novel in a notebook for a few minutes before she went to bed, and I actually felt envious of her.  I still had half an hour of work to get done on other things and was already drifting off to sleep.  Oh how I would love to get some work done on my novel.

I’m just going to have to take back my writing time.  I mean, sheeesh! I wrote an entire 80,000+ word novel in under 30 days once, surely I can find the time to write 300 words on my novel each week throughout this year, right?

And here I am supposed to write the first chapter of another novel to boot – I ain’t even had a chance to outline that novel.

So, I am going to see what I can do about reorganizing my work and reclaiming a hour each night in which I work on Heir to  Magic.  We’ll see how that works out, I might not get an hour every night, but I might get one hour a week.

Found my novel’s atlas and sketchbook

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I have found my Heir To Magic Atlas, and the sketchbook I have been making for the world, so now I can scan in the pages and start creating the website that I had been planning when I started out with it.  That has me really excited and I can’t wait to see if my vision actually takes the shape that I have been holding in mind for it or not.  Please be sure you come back and see what I have created later on when I have had a chance to get this thing up and going.
