Exhausting getting home

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Dang Sea-Tac airport wanted to charge me to log into the connection there, and the by the time I got home and settled in enough to think about turning on my home computer I had already bypassed the time for getting a post in on the 13th, so I have officially missed one day on the NaBloPoMo.  Ah well, I’m not in this for prizes or anything anyway, just for the fun of getting things posted to this site and getting myself thinking about my need to be writing on Heir to Magic every day.  That is the most important reason for participating in NaBloPoMo for me.

I’m home though, and downloading mass e-mails I had not got to check in Vegas.  I also need to get back into writing, double-timing it even.  I know I can write 80,000+ words in a month, so I have a LOT of catching up to do for NaNoWriMo and see if I can maybe write 50,000 words in 15 days.  LOL  That’ll be a killer.  But, I know I can make that goal, as long as the muses for Magic of Love don’t flee away from me and leave me with nothing to write about.  So… cry havok and let loose the muses of war!

I’ve lost it… must retrieve my novel from the backup files

Okay, now I am really really annoyed.  The copy of yWriter that I loaded onto my laptop the other day has got something wrong with it.  When I tell it to save a scene and close it the thing does not save the scene.  Even worse – it don’t seem to be saving *anything*.  Even the old stuff for Heir to Magic poofed.

I found it all in the backup files on the program, and of course for  Heir to Magic I have a backup on this computer and one on a thumb drive, but still… do you have any idea how heart stopping it is to open a book you have been working on for years and it’s no longer there. ::falls off chair in a faint::

So, the things I have to do just increased to include I have to also save all of my Heir To Magic stuff that I added in on the laptop since my last backup and my discovery of this unknown glitch.  I have no clue what caused this, since I have been using yWriter for several years, and so have my friends, and I have never seen it do this before.  If I don’t figure it out I may drop Spacejock a line just so he knows it happened to the program in case it is a glitch he’s been working out of it for some operating systems.

Ah well… back to work, then I can go write some more on Magic of Love: A Caregiver’s Story (my NaNoWriMo story).
