So exhausted

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Just got back to the room from the Bellagio, had a total blast, but Von insists I have to eat more than the bagel I had for breakfast, so we are going to go find food and then back here and if I am awake when I get back I have pictures to load up and share and lots to tell about everything.  Deffinately having fun and enjoying meeting everyone and getting to know in person the people I have talked to and known for well over a year.

Need to go find food now though, so will write more later.

Having fun!

Broken shoes… no food is worth this

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

I was going to go down to the buffet and get something to eat, but I broke one of my shoes on the way to the buffet (happened just before I got there too).  They were tight on my feet, brand new shoes I bought just before leaving Alaska, so I snipped a bit on center strap with my nail clippers… bad idea.  Strap tore out and shoe won’t fit now. LOL  At least later on I can add in a extension now and make them fit right.

I’ve also now conducted a “no one looks at your feet anyway” experiment.  All the way back up to room and not one person looked at the fact I was in my nylons. LOL I had slipped the slippers into a bag I had got when I bought new batteries for my camera.

Maybe I should just stay in the room and watch a movie and go get food with my friend when she gets here in a few hours?  Think I’ll do that… need a soda though, off to find diet root beer then back to room until she gets here.

Oh, and you can track me at Utterz and Twitter now.  Utterz I can upload straight from my cell phone, so that tracks my movements better.  I’m off to find rootbeer then back here to watch The Bourne Identity.  Need to get that watched and watch The Bourne Supremacy so I can order The Bourne Ultimatum this week.  :::happy grin!:::

Can I move to Las Vegas and live at Circus Circus?

I just got done taking a shower here, wonderful water pressure.  Would be bruising force if your skin was too delicate LOL  The hotel is an older one, built in 1968, and I must confess that housekeeping does the bare requirements when they clean.  It was nice to get a call earlier and be asked if I wanted housekeeping, was not needed so I just put the box from last night’s pizza and what other trash I had outside the door and let them take that away.  The towles and bedding is all wonderfully laundered, but there is a band of dust around the room perimeter where you can see that they had not vaccumed against the wall with an attachment for a while at least.  There is also a buildup of dust behind television cabinet.

The room is clean other than that, they’ve been dusting the tops of pictures and the top of the television cabinet.  No dust on shelf in closet  or on outlets although there is a ground connector off something sticking out of outlet in my room, the one behind the television that the TV is plugged into. =-O ANd why is the screw on that cover half out?? I think if I was management I would politely ask maintenence to please fix that.

As I said, the hotel is an older one, and there is a lot of cosmetics they could do to make it so much better for the guests, but it is definatly a comfortable room with an outstanding view – provided the construction going on next door is not another highrise.  I’ll be staying here every time I come to Las Vegas.  Rooms are quiet (other than that one piece of machinery next door and it’s not very bad unless I open the window (which has a safety feature to keep it from being opened all the way. (yes, that thing is exactly what it looks like, a screw. The subliminal messaging to anyone pondering to deactivate the safety on that window.. ::shaking head::))

I have loaded up some pictures of the room, if you want to see it, but I have not downsized them yet so i just have links to the large pictures.  They are:

Circus circus hotel room Standing in entry hall and taking picture to the left side of room

Circus Circus hotel room The desk area of the room standing in right corner by one of the beds and taking licture back toward desk in kitty-corner corner

Leaving Alaska

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

me leaving AlaskaHere I am, heading for the security checkpouint at Anchorage’s apirport (think it’s renamed Steven’s International Airport now?? I forget, and it’s been renamed for several years now, but it’ll always be the Anchrage airport to me lol)  Anyway, I’m off for Las Vegas in this picture, and will be keeping things updated here at Heir to Magic while I am down there.

I even got some work done on Heir to Magic during the flight.  Not much, and written in my notebook since I was sitting between a couple of guys and did not want to mess with the computer in the tight spaces, but got some notes on it.  Nothing on my NaNoWriMo entry though, the muse for that seems to have run screeming from the challenge of keeping up with everything I wanna do this month LOL Poor thing, I don’t blame it.

Another picture from Anchorage, this is the welcome sign that they have at the base of the escalators leading up to the security checkpoint.

Welcome to Alaska

I like that helecopter, and this seemed like a good picture for starting out the trip entries with, so now that I have it and GIMP loaded onto the computer here it is.

And lastly here is me in front of the polar bear at the Anchorage airport, you can see the edge of his display case at the end of the sign in the above picture, he’s facing the welcome sign.
